Description

A dopamine agonist medicament that lowers high levels of prolactin hormone in the blood. (Karen J Tulloch, 2019) A potent and very long-acting inhibitor of prolactin secretion of puerperal lactation and in the treatment of hyperprolactinemic disorders. (C Ferrari, 1995) Ceases the brain from releasing the prolactin hormone from the pituitary gland. A prolactin-lowering drug, more effective and better tolerated than bromocriptine for the treatment of hyperprolactinemic amenorrhea. (V Pascal-Vigneron, 1995) An alternative drug in patients with hyperprolactinemia who have failed treatment with, or are intolerant of, other dopamine agonists such as bromocriptine. (C P Rains, 1995) Offers significant advantages over bromocriptine in the prevention or suppression of puerperal lactation. (C P Rains, 1995) A safe and effective pharmacologic option for the prevention of lactation and associated physical symptoms in non-breastfeeding women. (Karen J Tulloch, 2019) Normalizes prolactin levels, improves gonadal and sexual function and fertility in males with prolactinoma.
