DEFDOZE SUSPENSION DEFLAZACORT 6mg. IP

Defdoze Suspension is a Deflazacort 6 mg corticosteroid suspension used for Duchenne muscular dystrophy in patients 5 years and older. Main uses: treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD); for patients 5 years of age and older; used for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive (immune-lowering) action.

Common side effects of Defdoze Suspension include cushingoid appearance (moon face, rounded look); weight gain and increase in appetite; central obesity (fat around the waist); upper respiratory tract infection and nasopharyngitis (runny or blocked nose); cough; frequent urination (pollakiuria). Get medical help at once if you notice increased risk of new, severe or returning infections; signs of infection may be hidden; raised blood pressure, raised blood sugar, raised sodium and lowered potassium; Cushing's syndrome or adrenal suppression; a doctor should monitor these during long-term use; stomach or intestinal perforation, especially with certain gut disorders, and signs may be hidden; mood and behaviour changes including severe depression or psychosis.

Defdoze Suspension contains deflazacort, a corticosteroid prodrug. Once inside the body its active form acts through the glucocorticoid receptor to bring down inflammation and to lower the activity of the immune system.
