An antidiabetic agent designed to normalise postprandial glucose excursions in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. (C R Culy, 2001) A fast-acting prandial oral hypoglycaemic agent developed for the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes whose disease cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone. (Hatorp, 2002) Used to control blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The first prandial glucose regulator with rapid insulinotropic action, reducing postprandial glucose without increasing hypoglycaemia risk. (D R Owens, 2000) Reduces blood glucose by stimulating insulin release from pancreatic beta-cells.
