An oral antihyperglycemic agent of the alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class that is widely used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. (Akira Imamura, 2013) Reduces the development of type 2 diabetes in high-risk individuals with impaired glucose tolerance. (Ryuzo Kawamori & Group, 2009) Improves postprandial hyperglycemia and increases glucagon-like peptide-1 secretion in patients with type 2 diabetes. (Yaxin Fu, 2022) Decreases both postprandial hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia, ameliorates sensitivity to insulin, and releases stress on beta-cells. (Scheen, 2003) A potentially therapeutic option for patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus in which glycemic control is inadequate. (Ajay S. Dabhi, 2013) Reduces postprandial glucose concentrations by delaying carbohydrate digestion and absorption in the gut.
