About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Made by Vibcare Pharma, Vivolac Solution is a syrup in the laxative and anti-constipation class. Its composition is Lactulose 10 gm. The product belongs to Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division and is packed as 200ml.

How it works

As an osmotic laxative, lactulose travels through the gut without being absorbed and draws water into the colon, which softens the stool and supports regular bowel movement. In the colon it is also broken down by bacteria into mild acids, and these hold ammonia within the bowel so that less of it enters the bloodstream. The same properties make it useful in portal-systemic encephalopathy.

Used for

Vivolac Solution is used to relieve chronic constipation and to prevent and treat portal-systemic encephalopathy, including pre-coma and coma stages. If electrocautery is planned during a bowel procedure, the doctor should be told: gas formed in the bowel may catch fire during the procedure, so the bowel should be cleansed thoroughly with a non-fermentable solution beforehand.

Read the label, and ask a doctor or pharmacist if unsure.
