About the product
By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references
Acarvib 50 is a tablet made by Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Acarbose 50 mg as its active ingredient. It belongs to the alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of anti-diabetic medicines. The product comes packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's C.U.R.E. division.
Acarbose works by slowing the action of the enzymes that break down complex carbohydrates and sugars in the small intestine. Sugars are digested more slowly, so glucose enters the blood at a gradual rate and the rise in blood sugar after a meal is reduced. Acarbose does not make the pancreas release more insulin, so its effect adds to that of insulin, sulfonylureas or metformin.
This medicine is used together with diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
