Amijem 500 Injection is an aminoglycoside antibiotic injection used for serious Gram-negative bacterial infections. Main uses: short-term treatment of serious infections due to susceptible Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas, E. coli, Proteus, Providencia, Klebsiella-Enterobacter-Serratia, Acinetobacter); bacterial septicemia (blood infection), including neonatal sepsis; serious infections of the respiratory tract, bones and joints, skin and soft tissue; infections of the central nervous system, including meningitis; intra-abdominal infections, including peritonitis.

Common side effects of Amijem 500 Injection include high frequency hearing difficulty or ringing in the ears (usually the first sign of ear nerve damage); dizziness (vertigo) or loss of balance; rise in serum creatinine on blood testing; albuminuria and red or white cells and casts in the urine; reduced urine output (oliguria), azotaemia. Get medical help at once if you notice permanent hearing loss or permanent bilateral auditory damage (ototoxicity); kidney damage (toxic nephropathy) or acute renal failure; sudden muscle paralysis or difficulty in breathing after the injection (neuromuscular blockade and apnea).
