Description

Atovib F 10/160 tablets from Vibcare Pharma are a lipid-lowering combination. Each tablet gives Atorvastatin Calcium 10 mg and Fenofibrate 160 mg. The class is HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor with fibric acid derivative. It is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's C-U-R-E division.

How it works

Atorvastatin Calcium slows the liver's own production of cholesterol and helps the liver remove more LDL cholesterol from the blood. Fenofibrate works on the PPAR-alpha pathway to speed the breakdown and removal of triglyceride-rich particles. Together they lower LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol and triglycerides and raise HDL cholesterol. Because a statin and fenofibrate are given together, the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis is higher, especially in older adults and in people with diabetes, kidney failure or hypothyroidism.

Used for

These tablets are used along with diet in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia or severe hypertriglyceridemia.
