Description

Azivib 250 is a tablet formulation from Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Azithromycin 250 mg. It falls in the class of macrolide antibacterial antibiotics. The product is packed as 30x6 (Blister) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.

How it works

The single active ingredient in this tablet, Azithromycin, is a macrolide antibacterial. It acts by stopping susceptible bacteria from growing, which lets the body clear the infection. Because the tablet carries one ingredient at one strength, its action comes from this antibacterial alone.

Used for

Azivib 250 is used for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute bacterial sinusitis, flare-ups of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated skin infections, urethritis and cervicitis. Azithromycin can prolong the QT interval and lead to torsades de pointes, a heart rhythm problem that can be fatal, and some studies show an approximately two-fold increased short-term potential risk of acute cardiovascular death in adults; this potential risk should be balanced against the benefits of treatment.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
