Read our full guide: Azithromycin: uses, dose, side effects and brands

Description

Each Jemazi 250 tablet carries Azithromycin 250 mg as its active ingredient. It is presented as a tablet, a macrolide antibacterial antibiotic, and is packed as 30x6 (Blister). The brand is manufactured by Vibcare Pharma and belongs to the Auspin division.

How it works

In this tablet, Azithromycin is the ingredient that acts on the infection. As a macrolide antibacterial, it works by preventing susceptible bacteria from multiplying, so the infection is brought under control by the body's own defence system.

Used for

The tablets are meant for mild to moderate infections due to susceptible bacteria, including sore throat and tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute worsening of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, urethritis and cervicitis. Note that azithromycin itself can prolong the QT interval and cause torsades de pointes, a potentially fatal heart rhythm problem, and that some studies show an approximately two-fold increased short-term potential risk of acute cardiovascular death in adults; this potential risk should be balanced against the treatment benefits.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
