A multi-action anorectal preparation belonging to the category of haemorrhoidal preparations, combining six pharmacologically distinct agents to comprehensively manage the symptoms of internal and external haemorrhoids and other inflammatory anorectal conditions. Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic that blocks pain signals from nerves to the brain, thereby decreasing pain sensation. Calcium Dobesilate is a venotonic drug capable of controlling symptoms of a haemorrhoidal attack by reducing microvascular permeability, decreasing platelet aggregation, and exerting antioxidant properties. Troxerutin is a vasoprotective agent that strengthens blood vessels in the affected area, reducing swelling and promoting healing. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that reduces redness, itching, and swelling. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks swollen blood vessels to further relieve itching and irritation in piles. Zinc Oxide acts as an astringent and antiseptic that protects irritated perianal skin while relieving irritation through its mild astringent effects. In a randomized, double-blind, controlled study, calcium dobesilate achieved a success rate of 86.21% with cessation of bleeding and significant reduction in both symptom scores and anoscopically observed inflammation at two weeks. Calcium dobesilate in conjunction with fibre supplementation was associated with significant improvement in the inflammation of haemorrhoids.
