Read our full guide: Cefpodoxime: uses, dose, side effects and brands
Cefdojem CV WFR Dry Syrup is a dry syrup from Vibcare Pharma. Its composition is Cefpodoxime 50 mg and Potassium Clavulanate 31.25 mg. It belongs to the antibiotic and anti-infective class, a cephalosporin antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. The pack is 30ml, and the product comes from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division.
Cefpodoxime, the cephalosporin part, works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls, so they cannot grow and are removed by the body. Potassium Clavulanate is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Some bacteria make an enzyme that breaks down antibiotics before they can act; clavulanate blocks that enzyme and allows cefpodoxime to keep working against those bacteria.
This syrup is used for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as acute otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, community-acquired pneumonia and acute bacterial flare-ups of chronic bronchitis.
Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
