Clopivib 75 tablets contain Clopidogrel 75 mg, an anti-platelet medicine used with aspirin to reduce heart attack and stroke. Main uses: reduces the rate of myocardial infarction (heart attack) and stroke in non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina or NSTEMI); reduces the rate of myocardial infarction and stroke in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) managed medically; given together with aspirin in acute coronary syndrome; reduces the rate of myocardial infarction and stroke in patients with a recent heart attack; reduces the rate of myocardial infarction and stroke in patients with a recent stroke or established peripheral arterial disease.

Common side effects of Clopivib 75 Tablet include bleeding from the gut (gastrointestinal bleeding); bleeding at puncture sites; easy bruising; nosebleeds; diarrhoea; abdominal pain. Get medical help at once if you notice major bleeding, including life-threatening or fatal bleeding; bleeding inside the brain (intracranial haemorrhage); thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).

Clopivib 75 works because its Clopidogrel is a prodrug. The liver enzyme CYP2C19 changes it into an active form, which binds to P2Y12 ADP receptors on platelets and stops them from clumping together. Platelets are then less able to stick together, so a clot is less likely to block an artery.

Must not be used by patients with active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or bleeding inside the brain. Must not be used by anyone who has had a hypersensitivity reaction such as anaphylaxis to Clopidogrel or any component of the tablet. Omeprazole or esomeprazole must not be used together with Clopidogrel, because they reduce its platelet-blocking effect; check with a doctor about alternative medicines. Clopidogrel must not be stopped on your own; it is stopped 5 days before elective surgery that carries a major risk of bleeding, as the prescriber directs. Check with a doctor first if a test shows you are a CYP2C19 poor metaboliser (another P2Y12 inhibitor should be considered with the prescriber), or if you have a higher risk of bleeding or take other blood thinners.
