About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Manufactured by Vibcare Pharma, Dapavib 10 is a tablet formulation. The active ingredient in every tablet is Dapagliflozin 10 mg, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. This product is packed as 2x5x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Cure division.

How it works

Dapagliflozin acts on the proximal tubules of the kidney, where it stops the SGLT2 transporter from reabsorbing filtered glucose. As a result, glucose is excreted in the urine. The same action also decreases sodium reabsorption and raises sodium delivery to the distal tubule, which can lower the heart's pre-load and after-load and reduce the pressure inside the kidney's filtering units.

Used for

These tablets are used as an add-on to diet and exercise for blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. They are also used in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of progression to reduce the risk of sustained eGFR decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death and hospitalisation for heart failure, and in adults with heart failure to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalisation for heart failure and urgent heart failure visits. In adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors they are used to reduce hospitalisation for heart failure. Ketoacidosis, a build-up of ketones in the blood, can occur with this medicine and may be seen even when blood sugar is not high; if it is suspected, the medicine should be stopped and medical assessment taken at once. Take medical advice first if you have type 1 diabetes, are elderly, have low blood pressure or kidney impairment, or use insulin, insulin secretagogues or diuretics.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
