DILTIVIB SR 90 DILTIAZEM 90mg. IP

Diltivib SR 90 tablets contain diltiazem 90 mg and are used to treat high blood pressure and to manage angina. Main uses: treatment of hypertension, alone or with other blood pressure medicines; management of chronic stable angina; management of angina caused by coronary artery spasm; helps reduce blood pressure by lowering the resistance in the blood vessels; helps improve exercise tolerance in angina by reducing the heart's oxygen requirement.

Common side effects of Diltivib SR 90 Tablet include headache; dizziness; slow heart rate (bradycardia); first-degree heart block; swelling of the ankles or feet (edema); weakness or tiredness (asthenia). Get medical help at once if you notice second- or third-degree heart block or marked slowing of the heart rate; worsening of congestive heart failure; fainting or severe palpitations.

Diltiazem works by relaxing the smooth muscle in the walls of blood vessels, which lowers peripheral vascular resistance and brings blood pressure down. It also slows the heart rate and lowers systemic blood pressure during activity, which reduces the heart's oxygen requirement. At the same time it widens the coronary arteries, both epicardial and subendocardial, and inhibits spontaneous and ergonovine-induced coronary artery spasm.

Must not be used in patients with sick sinus syndrome unless a working pacemaker is in place. Must not be used in patients with second- or third-degree AV block unless a working pacemaker is in place. Must not be used in patients with low blood pressure (systolic below 90 mm Hg). Must not be used in patients who are allergic to diltiazem. Must not be used in patients with acute myocardial infarction and pulmonary congestion seen on chest x-ray at admission.
