About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Divovib ER 500 is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma's Mind division. Each tablet contains Divalproex Sodium 500 mg, which belongs to the anti-epileptic and mood-stabilising class of medicines. The product is packed as 10x10 (Alu Strip).

How it works

Once the tablet reaches the stomach and intestine, Divalproex Sodium releases valproate. The exact way valproate works has not been established, but it is thought to act in epilepsy by raising the level of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain, a chemical messenger that helps settle overactive nerve signals. In this way it helps to keep seizure activity under control and to steady mood during manic episodes.

Used for

Divovib ER 500 is used for manic episodes of bipolar disorder, complex partial seizures, simple and complex absence seizures, multiple seizure types that include absence seizures, and prevention of migraine headaches. Liver injury, including liver failure, is a serious risk; liver tests should be done before and frequently during treatment. Pancreatitis, including serious bleeding cases, has been reported; seek prompt medical help for severe stomach pain with nausea or vomiting.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
