Description
Fenovib 145 is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet carries Fenofibrate 145 mg, a medicine of the fibrate class used to correct blood lipid levels. It is packed as 10x10 (Blister) and comes from Vibcare Pharma.
How it works
Fenofibrate acts on the PPAR alpha receptor in the liver. It raises the activity of lipoprotein lipase and lowers apoprotein C-III, so triglyceride-rich particles are broken down and cleared from the blood. As triglycerides fall, LDL particles change from small dense forms to larger ones.
Used for
The tablets are used with diet in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia to bring down LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides and apolipoprotein B and to raise HDL cholesterol, and in severe hypertriglyceridemia. Serious liver injury has been reported, so liver function should be checked before starting and during treatment. Muscle pain or weakness with dark urine needs urgent medical help, and the muscle risk is higher when the tablet is taken with a statin.

- Must not be used in patients with severe renal impairment, including those receiving dialysis
- Must not be used in patients with active liver disease, including primary biliary cirrhosis or unexplained persistent liver function abnormalities
- Must not be used in patients with pre-existing gallbladder disease
- Must not be used by nursing mothers
- Must not be used by anyone with known hypersensitivity to fenofibrate or fenofibric acid
