VIBODEP 20 FLUOXETINE 20mg. IP

Vibodep 20 is a Fluoxetine 20 mg capsule used for depression, OCD, bulimia nervosa and panic disorder. Main uses: acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder; acute and maintenance treatment of obsessions and compulsions in obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); acute and maintenance treatment of binge-eating and vomiting behaviours in moderate to severe bulimia nervosa; acute treatment of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.

Common side effects of Vibodep 20 Capsule include abnormal dreams; anorexia (loss of appetite); anxiety; asthenia (weakness or tiredness); diarrhoea; dry mouth. Get medical help at once if you notice suicidal thoughts and behaviour, especially in children, adolescents and young adults; serotonin syndrome, particularly with other serotonergic medicines; seizures.

Each Vibodep 20 capsule contains Fluoxetine 20 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Vibodep 20 Capsule only as your doctor advises.

Fluoxetine works by raising the level of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain, by slowing its reuptake at nerve cells. Its exact action is not fully known, but it is believed to be linked to this effect on serotonin uptake at nerve cells in the brain. By increasing serotonin activity in the brain, the capsule helps in controlling the symptoms of the conditions it is prescribed for.

Must not be used with pimozide or thioridazine. Must not be used with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) intended to treat psychiatric disorders; fluoxetine must not be started until at least 14 days after stopping such an MAOI, and an MAOI must not be started until at least 5 weeks after stopping fluoxetine. Must not be used in a patient being treated with linezolid or intravenous methylene blue. Not approved for use in children under 7 years of age. Check with a doctor first if the patient has bipolar disorder, epilepsy, bleeding problems, angle-closure glaucoma, low sodium, liver or kidney problems, or is pregnant or breastfeeding.
