About the product
Description
Fluticasone propionate 0.05% w/w cream, a medium-potency (class V) topical corticosteroid. Fluticasone binds glucocorticoid receptors in the skin with high affinity and reduces the production of inflammatory mediators, which relieves redness, swelling and itching. It is broken down quickly once absorbed, which keeps systemic exposure low. A thin layer is applied to the affected area during a flare; it is not applied under occlusion or on the face for long periods unless advised.
Side Effects
Burning, stinging, itching, dryness or irritation where applied., With long or excessive use: thinning of the skin, stretch marks, visible small blood vessels, acne-like eruptions, perioral dermatitis, loss of skin colour, increased hair growth and spread or masking of skin infection., Use over large areas, under occlusion or in infants can lead to absorption of the steroid and adrenal suppression., Not for use in untreated fungal, bacterial or viral skin infection, acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, or in infants under 3 months.
Indication
Atopic dermatitis and eczema in adults and children, including intermittent maintenance to prevent flares , Contact dermatitis , Seborrhoeic dermatitis , Psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) , Lichen simplex chronicus and other steroid-responsive dermatoses
