About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Vibglib M 5/500 is an oral anti-diabetic tablet from Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Glibenclamide 5 mg and Metformin 500 mg, and it belongs to the class of sulfonylurea and biguanide combination medicines. It is packed as 10x10 (Blister) and is available from Vibcare Pharma.

How it works

Glibenclamide works on the pancreas and encourages the release of insulin from its beta cells, which helps clear glucose from the blood. Metformin acts in a different way: it lowers the amount of glucose produced by the liver, reduces glucose absorbed from food in the intestine and improves the body's response to insulin so that more glucose is taken up and used. The two ingredients together address blood sugar from more than one direction.

Used for

The tablet is used as an addition to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Warning: lactic acidosis is a rare but serious and sometimes fatal reaction linked to metformin; seek urgent medical help if there is unusual muscle pain, breathing difficulty, drowsiness or stomach pain with vomiting. Low blood sugar may be severe; watch for sweating, shakiness and hunger.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Uses
