About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Ivavib 5 is a tablet formulation from Vibcare Pharma, made with the active ingredient Ivabradine 5 mg. It belongs to the cardiovascular group of medicines used to lower the heart rate. The product is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Cure division.

How it works

The main ingredient works on the sinoatrial node, the natural pacemaker of the heart. It blocks the channel that carries the pacemaker current responsible for the resting heart rate, so the heart beats more slowly. Ivabradine acts mainly on this node and does not affect the force of the heart's pumping or its electrical recovery.

Used for

Ivavib 5 is used to reduce the risk of hospitalisation for worsening heart failure in adults with stable, symptomatic chronic heart failure, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 35% or less, sinus rhythm and a resting heart rate of 70 beats per minute or more, who are on maximally tolerated beta-blockers or cannot take them. Ivabradine may harm the unborn baby, so females of reproductive potential must use effective contraception.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Bradycardia and conduction disturbances (heart block)
  • Harm to the unborn baby if taken during pregnancy

Uses

  • Reduces the risk of hospitalisation for worsening heart failure
  • Used in adult patients with stable, symptomatic chronic heart failure with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 35% or less
  • Used when the patient is in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate of 70 beats per minute or more
  • Used together with other heart failure treatment when beta-blockers are already given at maximally tolerated doses, or when beta-blockers cannot be used

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used in acute decompensated heart failure
  • Must not be used in patients with clinically significant hypotension (low blood pressure)
  • Must not be used in sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block or third degree AV block unless a functioning demand pacemaker is present
  • Must not be used in clinically significant bradycardia, in severe hepatic impairment, when the heart rate is maintained only by a pacemaker, or with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors

Ask a doctor first

  • Ivabradine may harm the unborn baby, so females of reproductive potential must use effective contraception; use is not recommended in second degree AV block; check with a doctor first in pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all other medicines being taken
