About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Ketovib Tablet is an oral antifungal tablet made by Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet carries Ketoconazole 200 mg, which belongs to the azole class of antifungal medicines. The medicine is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Grace division.

How it works

The tablet works by blocking the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane. Ketoconazole inhibits the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, which converts lanosterol into ergosterol. This leads to a shortage of ergosterol and a build-up of its precursors, so the structure and function of the fungal cell membrane are weakened and the fungus is unable to survive normally.

Used for

Ketovib Tablet is used for systemic fungal infections such as blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, chromomycosis and paracoccidioidomycosis, in patients who have failed or are intolerant to other therapies, and only when other effective antifungal therapy is not available or tolerated. Severe, sometimes fatal liver injury has occurred with this medicine, so liver function tests must be done at the start and monitored during treatment.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
