About the product
By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references
Laxijem 200ML Solution is a syrup from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division. Each unit is made with the composition Lactulose 10 gm, in the laxative and anti-constipation class. It is packed as 200ml.
The medicine in this syrup, lactulose, is an unabsorbed sugar that reaches the colon unchanged. There it draws water into the bowel by osmosis, softening the stool and helping the bowels to move. The bacteria of the colon also turn it into weak acids, which keep ammonia inside the bowel instead of letting it pass into the blood. This is how the syrup helps in constipation and in liver-related brain conditions.
It is used for chronic constipation and for the prevention and treatment of portal-systemic encephalopathy, including the stages of pre-coma and coma. If an electrocautery bowel procedure is planned, tell the doctor beforehand: the gas formed in the bowel may ignite during the procedure, so the bowel should be cleansed thoroughly with a non-fermentable solution first.
Read the label, and ask a doctor or pharmacist if unsure.
