About the product
By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references
Laxivib 100ML Solution is a syrup from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. Its composition is Lactulose 10 gm, and it belongs to the laxative and anti-constipation class. The product is packed as 100ml.
Lactulose is a synthetic sugar that is not taken up in the stomach or small intestine. It reaches the colon and draws water into the bowel by osmosis, softening the stool so that the bowel can empty more easily. The bacteria in the colon also split it into mild acids, which hold ammonia in the bowel and stop it passing into the blood. In this way it supports bowel movement and lowers blood ammonia.
This syrup is used for the relief of chronic constipation and for the prevention and treatment of portal-systemic encephalopathy, including the stages of pre-coma and coma. If a bowel procedure using electrocautery is planned, tell the doctor: gas formed in the bowel may catch fire during the procedure, so the bowel should be cleansed thoroughly with a non-fermentable solution beforehand.
Read the label, and ask a doctor or pharmacist if unsure.
