About the product
By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references
From Vibcare Pharma's Prima division, Laxivib 200ML Solution is a syrup containing Lactulose 10 gm. It falls in the laxative and anti-constipation class. The pack in which it is supplied is 200ml.
Working in the bowel, lactulose acts as an osmotic laxative. It is not absorbed before it reaches the colon, where it draws water in and softens the stool, making it easier to pass. Gut bacteria further break it down into mild acids that trap ammonia in the colon, reducing the amount of ammonia that enters the blood. These two actions explain its use in constipation and in portal-systemic encephalopathy.
The syrup is used for the relief of chronic constipation and for the prevention and treatment of portal-systemic encephalopathy, including pre-coma and coma. If a bowel procedure with electrocautery is planned, inform the doctor, since gas in the bowel may catch fire during the procedure and the bowel should be cleansed thoroughly with a non-fermentable solution beforehand.
Read the label, and ask a doctor or pharmacist if unsure.
