About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Each tablet of Vibopil 500 carries Levetiracetam 500mg as its single active ingredient. Vibopil 500 is supplied in tablet dosage form and falls under the antiseizure (antiepileptic) class of medicines within psychiatry and CNS disorders. Vibcare Pharma markets it in the pack 10x15 (Blister), through its Mind division.

How it works

The ingredient levetiracetam works by binding to the SV2A protein present in nerve cells. This protein is involved in the release of chemical messengers at nerve endings, and this interaction is thought to help keep abnormal brain electrical activity under control, although the complete mechanism is not known. In this way the tablet supports seizure control when taken as prescribed.

Used for

Vibopil 500 is indicated for partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older, and as adjunctive therapy for myoclonic seizures in patients 12 years and older with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients 6 years and older with idiopathic generalized epilepsy. Patients must be monitored for new or worsening depression, suicidal thoughts or unusual changes in mood or behaviour, and the medicine must be stopped at the first sign of rash unless it is clearly not drug related; if DRESS (drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms) is suspected and no other cause is found, it must also be discontinued.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
