About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Loxofib O is a tablet formulation from Vibcare Pharma that contains two antibacterial agents: Levofloxacin 250 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg. It belongs to the antibiotic and anti-infective class, pairing a fluoroquinolone with a nitroimidazole. The tablets are packed as 10x10 (Blister) and come from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.

How it works

The levofloxacin component works by interfering with the DNA of bacteria, which prevents them from growing and multiplying. The ornidazole component acts mainly on anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa, disrupting their DNA so that these organisms cannot survive. Each ingredient works on its own group of organisms, and the doctor decides when this combination is appropriate for an infection.

Used for

This medicine is prescribed for bacterial infections such as pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, skin and skin structure infections, urinary tract infections and chronic bacterial prostatitis, particularly where anaerobic bacteria may also be involved.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
