Lizojem 600 is a Linezolid 600 mg tablet for treating pneumonia and skin infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Main uses: nosocomial pneumonia (hospital-acquired pneumonia) caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae; community-acquired pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Staphylococcus aureus; complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections without concomitant osteomyelitis; uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections; infections caused by vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium.

Common side effects of Lizojem 600 Tablet include diarrhoea; nausea; vomiting; headache; anaemia; thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). Get medical help at once if you notice myelosuppression (reduction in blood cell counts); peripheral and optic neuropathy (nerve damage, mainly with use beyond 28 days); serotonin syndrome, especially with serotonergic medicines.

Must not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to linezolid or any component of the tablet. Must not be used in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or within two weeks of taking an MAOI. Must not be used for the treatment of Gram-negative bacterial infections. Check with a doctor first if you are taking serotonergic medicines (for example SSRIs, triptans), as serotonin syndrome may occur.
