Lizovib 600 is a Linezolid 600 mg tablet used for pneumonia and skin infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria. Main uses: nosocomial pneumonia (hospital-acquired pneumonia) caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae; community-acquired pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Staphylococcus aureus; complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections without concomitant osteomyelitis; uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections; infections caused by vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium.

Common side effects of Lizovib 600 Tablet include diarrhoea; nausea; vomiting; headache; anaemia; thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). Get medical help at once if you notice myelosuppression (reduction in blood cell counts); peripheral and optic neuropathy (nerve damage, mainly with use beyond 28 days); serotonin syndrome, especially with serotonergic medicines.

Each Lizovib 600 tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Lizovib 600 Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Linezolid, the single active ingredient, is an oxazolidinone-class antibacterial. It acts on susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium. It is not indicated for Gram-negative infections, and use beyond 28 days has not been evaluated in controlled clinical trials.

Must not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to linezolid or any component of the tablet. Must not be used in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or within two weeks of taking an MAOI. Must not be used for the treatment of Gram-negative bacterial infections. Check with a doctor first if you are taking serotonergic medicines (for example SSRIs, triptans), as serotonin syndrome may occur. Check with a doctor first if you have severe renal impairment or moderate to severe hepatic impairment, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
