About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

An ophthalmic preparation, Segamox D Eye Drop is made by Vibcare Pharma. Every millilitre contains Moxifloxacin 0.5%w/v along with Dexamethasone 0.1%w/v. The product belongs to the class of ophthalmic antibacterial and corticosteroid combinations. It is packed as 10ml, and it is listed under Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division.

How it works

As a fluoroquinolone antibacterial, moxifloxacin acts by halting the growth of susceptible bacteria behind the eye infection. Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid, works on the other side of the problem by lowering inflammation and easing redness, swelling and discomfort. Having both agents in a single drop means the bacterial cause and the inflammatory response are covered together.

Used for

This eye drop is meant for inflammatory conditions of the eye where a bacterial infection is present or likely, for example bacterial conjunctivitis with redness and swelling, or inflammation following eye surgery with a risk of infection. With prolonged use, steroid drops can raise eye pressure and cause glaucoma or cataract, so eye pressure should be monitored during long treatment.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
