About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Oflarb IV is an intravenous infusion that carries Ofloxacin 200 mg in a Sodium Chloride 0.9% w/v solution. It belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. The infusion is packed as 100ml and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. It is meant to be given in a hospital or clinic setting as a drip into a vein.

How it works

Ofloxacin works by blocking the bacterial enzymes needed to copy and repair DNA, so the bacteria cannot multiply and are killed. Sodium Chloride 0.9% w/v serves as the sterile liquid vehicle that dissolves and delivers the medicine into the vein and helps keep the body's fluid and salt level steady during the infusion.

Used for

Oflarb IV is used for infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to ofloxacin, such as chest infections including pneumonia and long-term bronchitis flare-ups, urinary tract and kidney infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, blood stream infection, and certain abdominal and pelvic infections.

Given only by a doctor or nurse.
