About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Oxivib 300 is an anti-seizure medicine from Vibcare Pharma's Mind division. Each tablet contains Oxcarbazepine 300 mg as the active ingredient. It belongs to the class of medicines used in psychiatry and CNS disorders, specifically anticonvulsants. The tablets are packed as 10x10 (Blister).

How it works

Oxcarbazepine works mainly through its active metabolite (MHD) in the body. It blocks voltage-sensitive sodium channels, which stabilises over-excited nerve membranes, stops repeated nerve firing and reduces the spread of nerve signals. Increased potassium conductance and changes in calcium channel activity may also add to these anti-seizure actions. Together these effects help prevent seizure activity from spreading through the brain.

Used for

Oxivib 300 is used for partial-onset seizures in adults, either alone or with other medicines. Oxcarbazepine can cause clinically low blood sodium (hyponatremia), so serum sodium levels should be monitored during treatment. Serious skin reactions and DRESS (multi-organ hypersensitivity) can occur; report any rash, fever or swelling to a doctor at once.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
