How it works
Paroxetine, the only active ingredient in Xetovib CR 25, acts on the brain by slowing the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) by nerve cells. This raises serotonin activity in the central nervous system, and that action is believed to be behind its use in mood and anxiety disorders.
Used for
These tablets are used in adults for major depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. Antidepressants may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviour in young adults, so all patients need close monitoring for worsening of symptoms or any new suicidal thoughts.

- Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema or Stevens-Johnson syndrome

Do not use
- Must not be used by patients taking, or within 14 days of stopping, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including linezolid or injected methylene blue
- Must not be used by patients taking thioridazine or pimozide
- Must not be used by anyone with known allergy to paroxetine or any of the tablet ingredients
