Pixijem Injection is a Piroxicam 40 mg injection for relief of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and acute gout. Main uses: relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis; relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis; short-term management of acute gouty arthritis; relief of acute musculoskeletal pain and postoperative pain; relief of pain and inflammation where an intramuscular NSAID is needed.

Common side effects of Pixijem Injection include nausea; constipation; flatulence; abdominal pain; diarrhoea; headache. Get medical help at once if you notice increased risk of heart attack or stroke (cardiovascular thrombotic events); bleeding, ulceration or perforation of the stomach or intestines; liver injury (hepatotoxicity).

Pixijem Injection contains Piroxicam 40 mg + Benzyl Alcohol 2%v/v. Pixijem Injection is given by a doctor or nurse, who decides the dose and how often it is given.

Piroxicam works by blocking the formation of prostaglandins, the chemicals that cause pain, swelling and inflammation, so relief is felt in the affected joints and tissues. Benzyl alcohol works as a solvent and preservative that keeps the injection solution clear and stable until it is used.

Must not be used if you are allergic to piroxicam, other NSAIDs or any ingredient of the injection. Must not be used if you have had asthma, hives or an allergic reaction after taking aspirin or any other NSAID. Must not be used in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Must not be used in the later months of pregnancy. Check with a doctor first if you have a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, heart failure, high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, dehydration, or if you take blood thinners, blood pressure medicines or steroids; also check with a doctor first if you are pregnant in the earlier months or breastfeeding.
