RANOLAVIB 500 ER RANOLAZINE 500mg. IP

Ranolavib 500 ER tablets contain Ranolazine 500mg and are used for the treatment of chronic angina. Main uses: treatment of chronic angina (long-term chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart muscle); may be used along with beta-blockers, nitrates and calcium channel blockers; may be used along with anti-platelet therapy and lipid-lowering therapy; may be used along with ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers.

Common side effects of Ranolavib 500 ER Tablet include dizziness; headache; constipation; nausea. Get medical help at once if you notice prolongation of the QT interval on ECG, which can affect heart rhythm; acute renal failure (stop the medicine and contact a doctor if kidney function worsens).

Each Ranolavib 500 ER tablet contains Ranolazine 500 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Ranolavib 500 ER Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Ranolazine 500mg in this tablet works on the heart muscle to reduce the chest pain of angina. Its antianginal action does not depend on lowering the heart rate or blood pressure, so it does not change the heart's workload at maximal exercise. It can inhibit the cardiac late sodium current, although the relationship between this action and angina relief is not established.

Must not be used by patients taking strong inhibitors of CYP3A such as ketoconazole, clarithromycin or nelfinavir. Must not be used by patients taking inducers of CYP3A such as rifampin, phenobarbital or St. John's wort. Must not be used by patients with liver cirrhosis. Check with a doctor first if you have moderate to severe kidney impairment (CrCl below 60 mL/min); kidney function should be monitored after starting treatment and periodically in such patients. Check with a doctor first if you have a family history of long QT syndrome, congenital long QT syndrome or known acquired QT prolongation, or if you are taking other medicines that prolong the QT interval.
