Description

Normal Saline is an intravenous infusion that contains Sodium Chloride 0.9% w/v. It belongs to the class of intravenous fluids used for fluid and electrolyte replacement. The infusion is packed as 100ml and is supplied from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.

How it works

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used in patients with severe fluid overload or pulmonary oedema.

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first in patients with a high sodium level in the blood (hypernatraemia): use requires clinical assessment, as isotonic saline may be used initially when restoring circulating volume and the fluid choice afterwards should be guided by the patient's sodium level and clinical condition.
  • Check with a doctor first in patients with kidney disease, heart failure or high blood pressure.
  • Check with a doctor first in patients with oedema or those on a sodium-restricted diet.
