About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Valpovib CR 500 is a controlled-release tablet from Vibcare Pharma's Mind division. Each tablet contains Sodium Valproate 333 mg and Valproic Acid 145 mg, which together supply 500 mg of valproate. The medicine falls in the antiepileptic class used for psychiatry and CNS disorders. It is packed as 10x10 (Alu Strip).

How it works

Both ingredients in the tablet release the valproate ion in the body. Valproate is thought to work in epilepsy by increasing the amount of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain, a natural chemical that helps keep nerve signals under control. Sodium valproate provides the larger share of the valproate in the tablet, while valproic acid adds to that amount. The controlled-release form is designed to release the medicine slowly.

Used for

The tablets are used on their own or as an add-on to other medicines for complex partial seizures and for simple and complex absence seizures, and also as an add-on in patients who have more than one seizure type including absence seizures.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
