Telmivib CL tablets contain telmisartan 40 mg with cilnidipine 10 mg for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. Main uses: treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults; to lower blood pressure when one medicine alone is not enough; lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack; part of a wider plan for cardiovascular risk management as advised by the doctor.

Common side effects of Telmivib CL Tablet include headache; dizziness; swelling of the ankles or feet (peripheral oedema); flushing; palpitations or increased heart rate; back pain. Get medical help at once if you notice marked fall in blood pressure (symptomatic hypotension); swelling of the face, lips or tongue (angioedema); worsening of kidney function.

Inside the tablet, two ingredients work on blood vessels in different ways. Telmisartan blocks angiotensin II at the AT1 receptor, which stops the chemical that tightens blood vessels from acting, so the vessels relax. Cilnidipine blocks calcium from entering the muscle layer of blood vessel walls, which also relaxes them. Together they allow blood to flow more easily and bring blood pressure down.

Must not be used in pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; drugs acting on the renin-angiotensin system can injure and kill the developing fetus, and telmisartan must be stopped as soon as pregnancy is detected. Must not be used by patients with known hypersensitivity (such as anaphylaxis or angioedema) to telmisartan, cilnidipine or any other component of the tablet. Must not be used together with aliskiren in patients with diabetes. Must not be used together with an ACE inhibitor unless a specialist specifically directs it. Check with a doctor first if you have liver or kidney problems, low blood volume or salt depletion, or are breastfeeding.
