About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Torvib Plus 10/50 is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma that contains Torsemide 10 mg and Spironolactone 50 mg. It belongs to the cardiovascular class of medicines known as diuretics, used in heart failure and fluid retention. The product is packed as 10x15 (Blister) and is marketed by Vibcare Pharma.

How it works

Inside each tablet, Torsemide is a loop diuretic. It works in the thick ascending part of the loop of Henle in the kidney, blocking the sodium-potassium-chloride carrier so that more sodium, chloride and water pass out in the urine. Spironolactone is an aldosterone antagonist. It acts in the distal renal tubule, where it makes the body lose sodium and water while holding on to potassium. Together the two actions increase urine output and help the body clear extra fluid, with spironolactone helping to balance the potassium loss caused by torsemide.

Used for

These tablets are used for oedema (fluid retention) linked with heart failure, kidney disease or liver disease, including cirrhotic oedema, and as add-on therapy for hypertension. Serum potassium must be checked within one week of starting treatment or changing the dose and regularly after that, along with kidney function and blood electrolytes.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
