Haemopine Syrup is a haematinic syrup prescribed for iron deficiency and nutritional anaemia. Main uses: iron deficiency anaemia; nutritional anaemia linked with poor dietary intake of iron, folic acid and vitamin B12; folate deficiency anaemia; anaemia associated with chronic or acute blood loss; anaemia during convalescence after illness or surgery.

Common side effects of Haemopine Syrup include nausea; constipation; diarrhoea; stomach discomfort or irritation; vomiting; dark or black stools (harmless effect of unabsorbed iron). Get medical help at once if you notice severe allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of the face or difficulty in breathing; iron storage disease with prolonged use of iron salts.

In this syrup, Ferric Ammonium Citrate gives iron that the body uses to make haemoglobin. Cyanocobalamin, a form of vitamin B12, helps in forming red blood cells and keeping nerves healthy. Folic Acid aids the body in producing red blood cells. Cupric Sulphate and Manganese Sulphate provide trace minerals that support normal blood formation and everyday enzyme activity.

Must not be used if you are allergic to any ingredient of this syrup, including cobalt or cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). Must not be used in haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis or haemolytic anaemia. Must not be used in untreated pernicious anaemia, as folic acid may hide its signs. Keep out of reach of children under 6 years; accidental overdose of iron-containing products can be fatal, so call a doctor or poison control centre immediately in case of accidental overdose.
