About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Viglim MP2 is an anti-diabetic tablet from Vibcare Pharma's C.U.R.E division. Each tablet has Glimepiride 2 mg, Pioglitazone 15 mg and Metformin 500 mg. It belongs to the class of oral anti-diabetic combinations containing a sulfonylurea, a thiazolidinedione and a biguanide. The product is packed as 10x15 (Blister).

How it works

Glimepiride makes the pancreas release more insulin into the blood. Pioglitazone raises the sensitivity of the body's cells to insulin, so more glucose moves out of the blood, and it also lowers glucose output from the liver. Metformin cuts the glucose produced by the liver and helps the body handle its own insulin with greater efficiency. Together the three act on different points of blood sugar control.

Used for

These tablets are used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride can cause severe low blood sugar, so patient selection, dosing and monitoring need care, especially in the elderly and in kidney impairment. Pioglitazone can cause or worsen heart failure and fluid retention; watch for rapid weight gain, breathlessness and swelling, particularly after starting treatment or after a dose change. Liver injury has been reported, so tell the doctor at once about nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dark urine or jaundice. Metformin can rarely cause lactic acidosis, with risk factors like kidney problems, heavy alcohol intake, liver disease, old age, surgery and contrast X-ray studies.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
