VIGLIM 1 GLIMEPIRIDE 1mg. IP

Viglim 1 tablets contain Glimepiride 1 mg and are used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Main uses: adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus; stimulates insulin release from the pancreas, helping lower blood glucose.

Common side effects of Viglim 1 Tablet include low blood glucose (hypoglycaemia); dizziness; weakness or tiredness (asthenia); headache; nausea. Get medical help at once if you notice severe hypoglycaemia; serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema and Stevens-Johnson syndrome; haemolytic anaemia in patients with G6PD deficiency.

Each Viglim 1 tablet contains Glimepiride 1 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Viglim 1 Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Glimepiride works on the pancreas by closing the ATP-sensitive potassium channels on the beta cells, and this makes the pancreas release more insulin into the blood. The insulin that is released helps the body move sugar from the blood into the cells, so blood glucose levels come down.

Must not be used for type 1 diabetes mellitus. Must not be used for diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used by anyone allergic to glimepiride or to any ingredient of the tablet. Must not be used by anyone who has had an allergic reaction to sulfonamide derivatives. Check with a doctor first if you are elderly, have kidney impairment, have G6PD deficiency, or are taking other anti-diabetic medicines.
