Hydruvia 10 tablets contain hydroxyzine 10 mg for relief of anxiety and tension and for itching due to allergic conditions. Main uses: symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis; adjunct in organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested; management of itching (pruritus) due to allergic conditions such as chronic urticaria; management of itching due to atopic and contact dermatoses; histamine-mediated pruritus.

Common side effects of Hydruvia 10 Tablet include drowsiness (usually transitory and may lessen after a few days); dry mouth; headache; rash; itching (pruritus); urticaria. Get medical help at once if you notice QT prolongation and Torsade de Pointes; convulsions (rare, mostly with higher doses); acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP) or fixed drug eruption.

Hydroxyzine works by blocking the action of histamine in the body, which brings down allergic itching and related skin reactions. At the same time, it acts on the brain to calm nervous activity, easing anxiety and tension and adding sedation when it is used as premedication or after general anaesthesia. When it is used around surgery it may increase the effect of meperidine and barbiturates, so the doctor modifies their use case by case. Drowsiness, when it occurs, is usually transitory and may lessen after a few days of continued use or on dose reduction.

Must not be used in early pregnancy. Must not be used in patients with a prolonged QT interval. Must not be used in patients allergic to hydroxyzine, cetirizine or levocetirizine. Must not be used by nursing mothers. Check with a doctor first if you have a heart rhythm problem, kidney or liver disease, or if you are elderly.
