About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Ferlib Injection is an intravenous injection from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. Each unit contains Iron Sucrose 20mg. It belongs to the class of haematinic and anti-anaemic medicines, and is packed as 1's.

How it works

Iron sucrose is an aqueous complex of iron bound in sucrose. After it is given into a vein, the complex dissociates into iron and sucrose. The iron is carried in the blood as a complex with transferrin to the cells that form red blood cells, and it is incorporated into haemoglobin as these cells mature.

Used for

The injection is used for the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in patients with chronic kidney disease. Blood pressure must be monitored during and following each administration, and each patient must be observed during and for at least 30 minutes after the injection. It is given only when personnel and treatment for serious hypersensitivity reactions are immediately available.

Given only by a doctor or nurse.
