About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

From Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division, Norafos Injection is an intravenous injection with Iron Sucrose 20mg as its active ingredient. It is grouped with haematinic and anti-anaemic medicines, and the pack is 5ml.

How it works

The injection provides iron in the form of an iron-sucrose complex. Once given into a vein, it dissociates into iron and sucrose, and the iron is transported as a complex with transferrin to cells including erythroid precursor cells. It is then incorporated into haemoglobin as those cells grow into red blood cells.

Used for

It is used for the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in patients with chronic kidney disease. Blood pressure must be monitored during and following each administration, and the patient must be observed for signs of hypersensitivity during and for at least 30 minutes after each administration. It should be given only when personnel and treatment for serious hypersensitivity reactions are immediately available.

Given only by a doctor or nurse.
