Tretovib 20 is an Isotretinoin 20 mg capsule used for severe nodular acne that has not responded to other therapy. Main uses: severe recalcitrant nodular acne with multiple inflammatory nodules of 5 mm or greater; reserved for patients whose acne has not responded to conventional therapy, including systemic antibiotics; for non-pregnant patients 12 years of age and older; reduction of sebum secretion associated with nodular acne.

Common side effects of Tretovib 20 Capsule include dry lips (cheilitis) and chapped lips; dry skin and dermatitis; dry eyes; back pain and joint pain (arthralgia); nosebleeds (epistaxis); headache. Get medical help at once if you notice severe, life-threatening birth defects if pregnancy occurs during treatment; depression, psychosis, suicidal thoughts or aggressive behaviour; intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri).

Isotretinoin works on the oil glands of the skin. It reduces the size of the sebaceous glands and slows their differentiation, which lowers the amount of sebum secreted. The exact way it acts in severe nodular acne is not fully known.

Must not be used in pregnancy, and must not be used by a woman who may become pregnant without strict pregnancy prevention measures confirmed with the doctor. Must not be used in patients allergic to isotretinoin or vitamin A, or to any component of the capsule. Must not be used together with tetracycline antibiotics, as the combination may raise pressure inside the skull.
