Description

Cefdojem O is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma, available as a combination of Ofloxacin 200 mg and Cefpodoxime 200 mg in every tablet. The product belongs to the antibiotic and anti-infective class, since it combines a fluoroquinolone antibiotic with a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is supplied in a 10x10 (Alu Alu) pack, and it is marketed from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division.

How it works

The two ingredients act in different ways against bacteria. Ofloxacin blocks the copying and repair of bacterial DNA, so the bacteria cannot multiply. Cefpodoxime prevents the bacterial cell wall from being built properly, causing the bacteria to break apart. This dual action covers a broad range of susceptible bacteria.

Used for

The tablets are used for infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including community-acquired pneumonia and acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, where they are reserved for patients who have no alternative treatment options. Other infections include pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute otitis media, urinary tract infections and uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
