Sachonor L Sachet is used for the management of acute diarrhoea with rehydration. Main uses: adjunctive management of acute diarrhoea along with oral rehydration; helps reduce the number of loose stools in acute diarrhoea; helps limit loss of water and electrolytes from the gut; supports a healthy balance of gut flora during a diarrhoeal episode; provides zinc support during diarrhoeal illness.

Common side effects of Sachonor L Sachet include nausea; abdominal pain; vomiting; constipation; headache; dizziness. Get medical help at once if you notice swelling of the face, lips or tongue with difficulty breathing (allergic reaction); severe skin rash; blood infection caused by the yeast in very ill or immunocompromised patients (rare).

In this formulation, Racecadotril lowers the secretion of water and electrolytes in the intestine and so helps control loose stools, without slowing the normal movement of the bowel. Saccharomyces Boulardii works as a probiotic yeast, supporting a healthy balance of gut flora and the integrity of the intestinal lining. Zinc Lactate supplies zinc, which the body uses for the gut lining and for normal immune function.

Must not be used by anyone allergic to Racecadotril, Saccharomyces Boulardii, Zinc Lactate or any other ingredient of the sachet. Must not be used in patients who have a central venous catheter, as the yeast can enter the bloodstream from it. Check with a doctor first before using this along with an ACE inhibitor, as the combination can increase the risk of swelling of the face, lips or tongue (angioedema). Check with a doctor first in pregnancy or breastfeeding, in liver or kidney disease, if the immune system is weak or the patient is seriously ill or hospitalised, or if there is blood in the stool or high fever.
