About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Ferlib Syrup is a syrup formulation from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. Each unit of the syrup carries Ferrous Ascorbate 30 mg together with Folic Acid 500 mcg. It is classed as a haematinic and anti-anaemic product and is packed as 200ml.

How it works

Iron from ferrous ascorbate is used by the body to form haemoglobin and red blood cells, and its ascorbate part assists the absorption of iron in the intestine. Folic acid acts as vitamin B9, supporting the formation of red blood cells and the making of DNA in the body.

Used for

This syrup is used for iron deficiency anaemia, folate deficiency anaemia, and in pregnancy to prevent and treat iron deficiency and to provide a maintenance supply of folic acid. Accidental iron overdose can be fatal in young children, so keep the bottle out of their reach and call a doctor or poison control centre immediately.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used by anyone allergic to any ingredient of this preparation
  • Must not be used in haemosiderosis, haemochromatosis or haemolytic anaemias, as all iron compounds are contraindicated in these conditions
  • Must not be used in pernicious anaemia or other megaloblastic anaemias where vitamin B12 is deficient: folic acid alone is improper therapy and can hide the blood signs and symptoms while nerve damage keeps getting worse, so vitamin B12 deficiency needs proper evaluation and treatment

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you have peptic ulcer, regional enteritis or ulcerative colitis
