An antifungal medication prescribed for fungal skin infections like tinea versicolor (a skin discoloration caused by a fungal infection), seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff), and other superficial mycoses. Relieves itching and flaking of the scalp and removes the dry, scaly particles. Effectively improves dandruff and related symptoms like itching and greasiness. (Gauri Godse, 2024) A broad-spectrum antifungal agent inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. (P H Spiekermann, 1976) Directly inhibits fungal cell membrane synthesis, causing fungal cell death (Clotrimazole), and reducing scaling and itching while promoting skin regeneration (Selenium sulfide). Reduces fungal growth on the skin surface, which decreases skin cell turnover and sebum production that controls scaling/flaking. Selenium sulfide possesses antifungal, keratolytic (exfoliating), and anti-inflammatory properties.
